Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha ("K" Line) has announced that it is opening a new office in Yangon, Myanmar, which will be run by personnel from its head office in Tokyo, starting from the New Year.
The company said by assigning Japanese personnel to Yangon, "K" Line will have direct contact with the industrial community in Myanmar in order to gather and better evaluate information related to infrastructure and local businesses.
The shipping company said it will "conduct operations with an eye towards developing business by establishing a joint venture with a local company in the future".
It also plans to develop marine transportation and logistics services to meet the demands of customers that have entered or are considering establishing operations in Myanmar.
The company pointed out that many Japanese companies are setting up operations in Myanmar owing to projects such as the joint construction of the Thilawa Industrial Park by Japan and the government of Myanmar.
