Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics introduces shortsea services to Russia via Stockholm

2012-11-14

Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics has started a weekly short sea service from Rotterdam via Stockholm to St. Petersburg, offering extremely fast transit times.
Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics has, in close cooperation with SCA Transforest, started a reliable weekly short sea service from Rotterdam via Stockholm to St. Petersburg.
A few months ago Samskip and SCA Transforest started testing the service to St. Petersburg and after many successful trials the service is now operating at full speed using two 1000 TEU container vessels. With sailings from Rotterdam Interforest Terminal the new line connects Stockholm, St. Petersburg's First Container Terminal, Sundsvall and Umea offering customers a reliable weekly departure with a very fast transit time of three days to Stockholm and only five days to St. Petersburg.
The connection from Stockholm to St. Petersburg is the only direct container service on the market
and is, with a one day transit, extremely fast.
What is more, a Monday arrival in St. Petersburg allows our customers to start the customs clearance procedures directly upon arrival without experiencing weekend delays reducing the risk of local storage costs.
The new service is focused around combining the existing Sweden service with Russia to further expand Samskip's European network. Samskip is now able to offer complete transport solutions combined with fast transit times, whether from Spain, Portugal, Italy, Norway, the United Kingdom, or Ireland to the most frequented terminal in the port of St. Petersburg.
Own offices throughout Europe as well as in St. Petersburg and Moscow ensure a reliable transport and assistance throughout the entire process.
To meet the Russian market requirements besides offering the 45ft pallet-wide high-cube containers suitable to carry 33 euro pallets, Samskip also offers 20ft DC, 40ft DC/HC containers, flatracks and reefers.
