Emirates plans to launch 18 additional flights-a-week between Dubai and New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore. The airline's Vice-President for India and Nepal, Mr Orhan Abbas, told newspersons that the Dubai-based carrier sees a strong demand and market in India. Commenting on whether coming from an oil rich region gives Emirates an advantage over other airlines, Mr Abbas said, "We are a purely commercial airline and not subsidised by our government, so we face the same situations as the others, but effective cost management is what we will be doing.'' On the future outlook, if the oil prices continue to soar, he said that "people will not stop travelling and we will have to work around ways to face the situation." The airline would be launching the new frequencies between July and October. Of the 18 proposed flights, two additional flights will be launched from Delhi, six from Hyderabad and four will operate from Bangalore. |
