Evergreen joins EU's greenhouse gases measurement scheme

2008-6-6

Evergreen said it had become the first shipping company in the world to join the Greenhouse Gases Measurement Project sponsored by the European Commission.

For coordination, the S-type and P-type container vessels on Evergreen's Europe-Asia services and the Asia-Australia service will be equipped with 120 kg measurement machines to collect and record the changes of greenhouse gases on the surface of oceans in Asia, Europe and the Pacific region, a company statement of Evergreen said.

The project will be inaugurated at the end of 2008 and Cambridge University of England will be responsible to install the measure machines on Evergreen's ships. The first phase recording and researching will last for two years, the statement said.
