FEFC lines westbound volume up 19.4% in November

The Far Eastern Freight Conference said today its members' container volume in the westbound Asia to Europe and Mediterranean trade increased 19.4 percent in November to 793,905 TEUs, up from 664,828 TEUs in the same month in 2006.

The largest increase came in the Asia-to-Med trade with the FEFC carriers' westbound volume up 26.2 percent to 272,959 TEUs. The monthly Far East-to-North Europe volume rose 16.2 percent year-on-year to 520,946 TEUs.

After 11 months of 2007, the conference lines' westbound volume improved 19.3 percent to 8.65 million TEUs.

The FEFC's eastbound figures for November are not available yet. Eastbound movements by conference carriers after the first 10 months of last year stood at 2.79 million TEUs, up 6.5 percent year-on-year.
