DP World to build India's largest port in Cochin

DP World will spend US$150 million to build a container port in Cochin in Southwest India.

The new port will also become the largest container port in India.

DP World said the port construction would start next month and be completed within two years. The port will have an annual container capacity of three million TEUs.

DP World is also planning to invest in construction of container ports in Turkey, England, Holland, The Republic of Senegal, Peru and China.

By 2017, the annual throughput of DP World's container ports is expected to reach 90 million TEUs.
