Emirates Airline announced on Wednesday that its plans to start non-stop services to Ahmedabad giving a direct link between the Indian city and Dubai.According to a press release, the airline would operate six flights per week to Ahmedabad from October 28. Flights would be operated in two and three class configurations using Airbus 330-200 and Boeing 777-200 aircraft. The Dubai-Ahmedabad service will take approximately three hours, and would have 1,500 passenger seats and over 100 tonnes of cargo capacity per week on the route.
Ahmedabad would be the airline¨s ninth touch base in India. It already operates services from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata and Bangalore.
The Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, said, ^We are pleased that our enhanced presence will provide travelers, particularly those in West Asia with more convenient access to India. I am also confident the new, direct link will stimulate increased commerce and tourism exchange between long-standing partners the UAE and India, and prove popular with business and leisure travelers ̄.
