Italian wine producer Terre Cortesi Moncaro has been presented with the inaugural JF Hillebrand SCM Supply Chain Partner of the Year Award, which helps foster greater interaction between suppliers and customers.
Moncaro won the award for ensuring the high performance of its supply chains for the UK's Waitrose and Thresher Group. The judges were impressed by Moncaro's ability to ship tens of thousands of wine cases to customers involved in the JF Hillebrand Supply Chain Management initiative last year on time, a Hillebrand statement said.
"We are obviously delighted to receive this award in recognition of all the hard work our team has made and our engagement in these innovative SCM projects," said Stefano Tombesi, marketing and sales manager at Moncaro. "The award confirms our belief that service and logistics are as important as the quality of the wine itself."
Along with the accolade itself, the prize of a EUR1,500 (US$2,017) will go to Moncaro's nominated charity, Associazione Italiana Carlo Urbani. Dr Urbani was the Italian medic who first identified Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and fell victim to the infection shortly afterwards.
