MSC's new Tiger Service calls at XICT
POSTED: 9:05 a.m. EDT, June 5,2007
MSC's new Mediterranean Tiger Service (TGS) has undertaken its maiden voyage, with the MSC Florentina calling at Xiamen International Container Terminals (XICT) en route to the Middle East.

MSC has deployed ten 6,750-TEU container vessels on the service, which follows a port rotation of: Jeddah, Jebel Ali, Bandar Abbas, Singapore, Hong Kong, Xiamen, Qingdao, Xingang, Pusan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Fuzhou, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Jeddah, Istanbul, Constanza, Ilyichevsk, Odessa, Gemlik, Gioia Tauro and Jeddah.

"Comprehensive port coverage and excellent transit times, TGS provides Mediterranean ports with an express link to Xiamen. TGS is the fourth new service to be launched at XICT this year," said Raymond Chan, general manager of XICT in a statement.

This development comes after XICT expanded its berthing capabilities with the recent rollout of Berth One. XICT now has a total quay length of 1,083 metres and depth alongside of 17.5 metres to handle three mega-vessels simultaneously.

Xiamen International Container Terminals is located at Haicang Port in the Xiamen Special Economic Zone of Fujian province. XICT was established through a joint venture between Hutchison Delta Ports (HDP), a part of the Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) group and Xiamen Haicang Port Company.
