Authorities in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province are stepping up measures to integrate to their road and rail networks to boost connectivity within China's Bohai Rim, Xinhua reports.
The overall plan calls for travelling times between the major cities and industrial zones within the Bohai Rim to less than six hours by 2015.
Work on linking the Beijing-Tianjin inter-city railway to the two airports in Beijing and Tianjin is expected to be completed this year. Work to extend the second Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan expressway, Beijing-Tianjin expressway and Tangshan-Tianjin expressway is also underway.
Construction is also underway on the Tianjin-Shantou expressway, Tianjin-Shanghai express railway, Tianjin-Qinhuangdao passenger railway, and the second Huanghua Port-Tianjin Wanjia railway terminal. Work is expected to start soon on building the Tianjin-Chengdu expressway, state media said.
The plan is to integrate the traffic systems in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei by the end of the decade, reducing transit times between Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei to less than three hours.
