POSTED: 9:18 a.m. EDT, June 11,2007
Danish shipping company Unifeeder will introduce a 1,000-TEU ship on its North Sea and Baltic network by chartering the ice-strengthened Anne Sibum, a newbuild being fitted out in Bremerhaven at SSW Fahr und Spezialschiffbau yards, according to AXSLiner News.
Till now, the largest Unifeeder ships have been in the 870-TEU class. Unifeeder is one of the two largest feeder operators in the Baltic Sea together with Team Lines, which already uses 1,000-TEU plus ships like the 1,712-TEU Katharina and the 1,600-TEU Eilbek.
However, the leading three operators, Maersk Line, MSC and CMA CGM, have all introduced ships of up to 1,800 TEU on their Baltic and Scandinavia feeder services, the report said. |
