Sinotrans Group president Zhao Huxiang said his firm will invest substantially in the Wanjiang River waterway expansion, and join in the construction of Hefei Container Terminal and Xinqiao International Airport Logistics Park, Xinhua reported.
Speaking in Zhengzhou recently, he said Sinotrans had established a sound logistics system in the Pearl River Valley by connecting major river ports with the overland transport network. The next step, he said, would have the company establish a similar logistics system in the Yangtze River Valley, and later on the Wanjiang River, a tributary of the Yangtze.
Sinotrans is also investing in a logistics centre in Anhui, the first phase of which has been completed and the second phase will be started soon, the report said.
The company also purchased shares in Maanshan Port and is negotiating with Wuhu Port for a share purchase. Sinotrans is also talking with Hefei Port for a new container terminal and plans to set up an inland logistics park in Anhui.
The firm also sees the potential of Anhui province in developing air logistics industry and thus plans to set up air logistics park in Hefei Xinqiao Airport, the report said.
Zhao Huxiang said Anhui will be one of the most important investment areas of Sinotrans in the next few years, adding that the province has the potential to become a regional logistics centre in China with the breakthroughs in infrastructure development.
