APL launches faster container service
POSTED: 2:55 p.m. EDT, May 20,2007

Chennai May 18 APL, the global container transportation company, will launch a faster container service in July from Singapore to New York via Colombo. Indian shippers on the east coast will be able to move goods to New York a week quicker than APL's existing Indamex service.

The `SZX service' via Suez Canal will beat the Grand Alliance (Hapag/NYK Line) service in the route by two-three days and also the recently-launched Maersk service from Chennai to Savannah via Colombo by six days, Mr P.C. Johny, Regional Director, South/East, APL India, told Business Line.
