Hactl conducts drill to test readiness for post-typhoon rush

Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) conducted a drill earlier this month to test its ability to minimise service disruptions during and after typhoons.
The drill supposed Hong Kong International Airport had been closed and flights diverted during a typhoon, resulting in an upsurge when facilities reopened.
To test equipment deployment and management capabilities, Hactl simulated a sudden surge of unscheduled imports, testing its readiness to cope with rescheduled export flight movements and cargo uplift to reduce delays and accelerate cargo offloads.
The typhoon simulation also tested the effectiveness of the new Hactl Cargo Contingency Response Centre to monitor operational activities and service recovery during emergencies.
"We are very pleased to see the typhoon drill ran smoothly. It provided an invaluable experience for our staff to familiarise themselves with the revamped typhoon procedures. We are also grateful for the participation of our business partners," said Hactl service delivery director Kenneth Bell.
