Amtrak, the UK express parcels company, is investing in 18 more double-deck trailers, to add to the six already in its fleet. The 13.6 metre trailers will be in operation by the end of August. They will operate the trunk routes between the company's hub at Aldridge in the West Midlands and some of its 75 depots nationwide. Amtrak also operates 130 single deck trailers.
"Using double-deck trailers will significantly reduce the cost of operating some of our busiest routes," says Alan Jones, Managing Director. "And, of course, it helps contribute to everyone's aim of benefiting the environment by cutting annual road mileage."
Alan Jones and his team took over Amtrak in January. "The new vehicles are part of our continued investment in the company as we build the business and expand the customer base," he explains.
