GAC appoints new group corporate communications director
POSTED: 11:43 a.m. EDT, April 26,2007

Esther Oon has assumed the position of the GAC Group's corporate communications director from the beginning of the month.

The promotion comes after Ms Oon has been almost five years with the global group that provides shipping, logistics and marine services.

She is now head of the group's corporate communications department based out of Singapore. She is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the company's global communications strategy including branding, public relations, advertising, corporate sponsorships and event management. The group's branding campaign is currently rolling out in over 40 countries worldwide, a GAC statement said.

Ms Oon joined GAC as communications manager for Logistics Services in 2002, and was appointed group corporate communications manager a year later. She will continue to report to the group vice presidents, who are based at the corporate headquarters in Dubai.

Ms Oon began her communications career with the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore where she was involved in crisis management and media relations. She then went on to work with global strategic communications consultancy Hill & Knowlton in Singapore handling a portfolio of clients in the financial, automotive, petrochemical, government and logistics sectors, including GAC.
