Exmar to Extend Gas Fleet

Apr.20 -- Exmar has executed a contract for a construction of a liquefied natural gas regasification vessel (LNGRV), reports the press-service of the company.

The vessel, the eighth in a series of LNGRVs, hull N 2272, will be built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd (DSME). It will have the capacity of 150,900 cub.m. Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2010.

Excelerate Energy will participate in the ownership in this vessel and, also, hull N 2270 and hull N 2271, which were ordered at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in 2006 and are due for delivery in 2009.

The vessels will be named "Exquisite", "Exemplar", "Expedient".

It should be pointed out that Exmar has reached an agreement with Hong Kong based owner, Wah Kwong, to participate as an equal parter in 6 pressured gastankers with capacities between 3,500 and 5,000 cub.m. Wah Kwong ordered the vessels in the course of the last year.

This join venture is in addition to the partnership both companies have on 2 midsize vessels - "Touraine" and "Brugge Vature". The vessels will be built in Japan and are scheduled to be delivered between November 2008 and July 2009.
