POSTED: 9:31 a.m. EDT, April 23,2007

Korean Air Aerospace division was named Boeing's supplier of the year for 2006 in the "major structures" category, it was announced at a gala this month in Bellevue, Washington.

First issued in 1988, the award is given after a rigorous and thorough review of worldwide suppliers, said a Boeing statement. The supplier of the year award acknowledges Korean Air's outstanding technological skills, consistent quality and reliability.

Korean Air was first awarded supplier of the year in 2001. With this year's recognition, Korean Air becomes the first supplier to win the award twice within six years. In addition, Korean Air is the only commercial aircraft manufacturer among this year's winners.
