Kuehne + Nagel has been contracted by the manufacturer of paint and decorative products, ICI Paints, to provide warehousing services for ICI's Austrian sales market.
The new 5,000-square metre warehouse operation on the outskirts of Vienna will provide picking, packing and re-labelling, a company statement said.
The entire operation, on a 10,000-square metre site, is equipped with state-of-the-art information technology and is licensed to handle dangerous goods, pressurised containers and substances hazardous to water.
Apart from the new terminal, Kuehne + Nagel operates two other Vienna operations, a warehouse of 30,000 pallet positions and a 25,000-square metre facility for consumer electronics.
Separately, Kuehne + Nagel recently acquired the book of business of Norway's customs clearance specialist, Speditoren A/S, for an undisclosed sum. A company statement said the acquisition will allow Kuehne + Nagel to strengthen its competence in customs clearance in Norway. The company will now be able to offer in-house customs clearance.
