The International Air Cargo Association (Tiaca) has chosen Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as the venue for its Air Cargo Forum (ACF) and Exposition in November 2010.
A Tiaca statement said the biennial event returns to Europe in 2010 after being held in Calgary, Canada, in 2006 and in Kuala Lumpur next year.
The Tiaca Air Cargo Forum attracts thousands of senior industry executives and hundreds of exhibitors from around the world to its three-day event and, over its 46-year history, has earned a reputation for networking opportunities and lively conference debates.
Gary Bartek, chairman of Tiaca, said: "We know the choice of Amsterdam will be extremely popular with delegates and exhibitors. With a throughput of 1.5 million tonnes of air cargo per annum, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is a major cargo airport that sits at the heart of Europe as a gateway to the rest of the world.
"We received several strong bids to host ACF 2010. What particularly impressed our selection committee about Amsterdam were not just its freight volumes and impressive infrastructure but its commitment to air cargo and its ambitious development plans," Mr Bartek said.
