United Parcel Service, the world's largest package shipper, has re-drafted its orders of the Airbus A380 given delays to deliveries of the problem-plagued super-jumbo air freighter.

Bloomberg News reported that UPS has agreed with Airbus that either company could cancel its order for 10 A380 freighters. UPS will decide later in the year whether to retain the US$2.8 billion order after getting new delivery dates from Airbus, UPS spokesman Mark Giuffre told Bloomberg.

The UK's Transport Intelligence news agency reported that UPS and Airbus have signed an agreement that sets a timetable for deciding the status of UPS orders. The agreement specifies changed delivery dates for the A380F and provides for possible termination.

In another report, UPS was said to have agreed with Airbus to delay the delivery dates for its 380 order. "UPS' decision to purchase the A380 freighter was based on a lengthy evaluation of our future network needs to meet customer demands across a variety of global trade lanes," said Bob Lekites, UPS vice president of airline and international operations.
