Korea Rail Corporation says the two new container yards in Chungju and Cheongju rail stations will open on January 15.

KRC invested KRW600m (US$640,000) to build the 2.025acre (0.82ha) yard in Chungju and to add further 2.43acre (0.98ha) to the existing 2.187acre (0.89ha) yard in Cheongju.

The firm expects the two yards to handle about 35,000 teu, coming from the industrial complexes in Chungju, Cheongju and Ohchang, every year.
