IJS Global has announced an alliance with Moscow-based Delivery World, to launch air cargo services linking the Russian Federation with worldwide markets.
Under the alliance, Delivery World will sell, market and manage air cargo services in the Russian Federation exclusively for IJS Global. In turn, IJS Global will represent Delivery World¡¯s air cargo interests across IJS¡¯s worldwide network, which now spans every major trading continent.
Though the venture¡¯s initial plans will cover air cargo services, the two companies plan to expand their alliance to include ocean freight and land transport operations. There is no firm timetable for that expansion, the companies said.
¡°The region¡¯s economies are booming, and this is creating accelerated demand for air cargo services to transport a broad range of commodities from oil field equipment to consumer non-durables,¡± said Giorgio Laccona, chairman and chief executive officer, IJS Global. ¡°We have long been interested in serving Russia, and by aligning with Delivery World, we leverage the knowledge base of a seasoned partner skilled in capitalising on the abundant opportunities of doing business in Russia, while minimising the challenges of working in a relatively less-mature commercial region.¡±
Boris Zadonsky, vice-president, Delivery World, said: ¡°Our experienced and well-established Russian air cargo network will help build IJS Global¡¯s footprint in The Federation. At the same time, we will leverage IJS¡¯s worldwide system, expertise and resources to grow our business beyond The Federation. Our local know-how, combined with IJS¡¯s formidable capabilities will benefit shippers and consigness of both companies, as well as our companies themselves.¡±
