Continental contracts EDS and HP to upgrade IT systems
POSTED: 8:49 a.m. EDT, October 30,2007
CONTINENTAL Airlines has awarded new information technology services contracts to EDS and HP.

Under the multi-year agreements, the carrier said in a statement that it is contracting EDS to move old airline applications to modern platforms. EDS will also manage Continental's computer environments, legacy applications, server and network administration as well as help with desk and field services.

HP will be responsible for updating Continental's airport environment and will also provide servers, storage, software and services for Continental's older applications movement.

"We look forward to working with EDS and HP in developing and delivering innovative business solutions for our customers," said Ron Anderson-Lehman, Continental's chief information officer.

"The multi-supplier approach will allow Continental to fully appreciate and gain benefit from the strength and capabilities of our partners while increasing efficiency and reducing costs," said Bob Edwards, vice president, systems operations.
