TPG out of race for Alitalia, leaving five players
POSTED: 2:33 p.m. EDT, October 25,2007
US private equity firm TPG, which Alitalia identified among possible buyers, was not currently able to form a sufficiently Italian-based consortium to invest in the ailing airline.

TPG was short listed by Alitalia among six potential investors after an auction to sell the state's 49.9 percent stake in the airline collapsed in the summer.
