Geodis, a French global logistics player, opened a new office October 12 in Amiens 140 kilometres north of Paris.
This facility, the company believes, will help customers in that area of France to grow by giving them better access to Geodis' worldwide network.
The 44,000-square metre site at the Espace Industriel Nord in Amiens offers 85 loading dock doors, a 5,300-square metre operating area and employs 140 people. All Geodis Calberson Picardie and France Express "groupage" and "express" deliveries and pick-ups for the Amiens sector will be handled at the new facility, the firm said.
This site will also provide a direct link with Geodis's national and international networks, allowing local firms to take advantage of the group's expertise.
Geodis said that by using its next-generation parcel management tool and transmitting data in real-time, the Amiens facility will be able to process over 600,000 express or conventional groupage shipments a year.
