ANTONOV will form an engineering joint venture in Beijing with Shaanxi Aircraft Industry for the research and development of new freighters.

The unit of the China Aviation Industry Corp has signed a framework agreement with Antonov and operations are scheduled to begin by the end of this year.

Shaanxi Aircraft will hold the controlling share in the joint venture, with the initial investment being about US$1.29 million.
