POSTED: 8:56 a.m. EDT, August 8,2007

Chinese Road and Bridge Corporation has been allocated five out of nine road contracts awarded recently by the Addis Ababa City Road Authority. The Chinese company will undertake work worth US$67.34 million. A second Chinese company, UE Industrial, also walked away with one of the contracts, worth $27.38 million. This will involve installing modern streetlights on roads earlier built by the road authority. Two local companies, Hazi Corporation (2) and Enniy Corporation (1), were also awarded contracts.
