Guangzhou Nansha container terminal's volume soars 70pc

In the first six months of the year, container terminals in Guangzhou's Nansha District handled a total of 2.04 million TEU, an increase of 69.58 per cent compared to the same period a year earlier.

Aggregate cargo throughput of these terminals rose 48.3 per cent to 32.67 million tons, reports Xinhua News Agency.



Within this total, container throughput within the Nansha port area, located inside Nansha District, grew by 72.14 per cent to 2.02 million TEU, accounting for 98.2 per cent of Nansha District's total.



The volume of cargo handled in the Nansha port area increased by 44 per cent to 26.48 million tons, taking up 73 per cent of the total cargo throughput.
