Air Macao, the flagship airline in the special administrative region, plans to open 83 more flights during the upcoming Chinese lunar New Year, the Spring Festival, the company said Tuesday.

Fei Hongjun, the general manager, told a press conference here that from Feb. 9 to 25, the airline will open extra flights to Taipei, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Japanese cities of Tokyo and Toyama.

He said the number of the special flights for the holidays will witness a year-on-year rise of 53 percent.

Air Macao, launching the debut flight in 1995, is currently running scores of international and domestic flights.
