HONG KONG Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) was selected from 300,000 organisations that use geographic information system (GIS) software for a Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award by ESRI Inc because of Hactl's "extraordinary contribution to the global society".
"It is an honour to receive the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award," said Hactl information services manager Andy Bien.
"The award is a recognition of our efforts in enhancing the efficiency of the supply chain. Hactl will continue with the latest technologies and deliver efficient and reliable services," he said.
Starting from 2006, according to the Hactl statement, the Hong Kong ground handler incorporated a new GIS application called Schematic Display System (SDS) to its freight management system, further strengthening its ability to move cargo and spot the traffic conditions while identifying equipment problems.
