Taiwan's HCT Transportation to set up logistics base in Taicang
POSTED: 9:22 a.m. EDT, October 29,2007

HCT Transportation of Taiwan plans to invest US$50 million to set up a logistics base in Jiangsu province's Taicang port, Xinhua reported.

Taiwan-based HCT is an international logistics company with nine centres in Taiwan and business connections with Maersk, TNT and Japan's Sagawa Express.

HCT was one of the 100 investors in the booming Taicang port, which has become a transportation hub for plastics, general merchandise, wood and steel, the report said.

Taicang port set monthly container throughput record in September this year by handling 100,000 TEU and is expected to handle one million TEU this year, the report added.
