Port of Dalian box volume up 16.7pc in first nine months

From January to September, the Port of Dalian's container throughput reached 2.7 million TEU, increasing 16.7 per cent over the comparable period the year before, Logistics Week reported.

The port's total cargo throughput for the period went up 15.8 per cent to 160 million tons. Foreign trade rose 19.6 per cent to 61 million tons.

In September, the port handled 341,000 TEU, up 15.5 per cent year on year. Foreign trade rose 14 per cent to 299,000 TEU. Cargo handled by the port totalled to 19.9 million tons, holding steady to the same as last year's level while foreign trade went 8.4 per cent up to 7.3 million tons.

The Port of Dalian is served by 83 container shipping lines, 13 of which are ocean carriers.
