CHINA and the US plan to strengthen the level of their logistics industries' co-operation in a bid to create a win-win situation for both sides, said the chairman of the China Communications and Transportation Association (CCTA), Qian Yongchang, Xinhua News Agency reports.
It cited Mr Qian saying that in spite of sharp growth in Sino-US trade since China joined the World Trade Organisation, bilateral cooperation in the logistics industry hasn't kept up with the rapid increase in trade.
The official complained that China's logistics industry is still underdeveloped and requires US know how in the areas of management, training and logistics technology to catch up with its counterparts in the West.
In return for such support, China would be able to provide American businesses with access to its vast and fast-growing logistics market, said Mr Qian.
Officials from both sides have agreed to hold an exhibition and forum in July, 2007 in Beijing to discuss ways to increase co-operation in their logistics industries.
