BAX Global wins supply chain contract in China
POSTED: 9:35 a.m. EDT, December 11,2006

BAX Global has been awarded a new transportation and supply chain management contract in Shenzhen, China by a Dutch manufacturer of consumer technology products.

BAX operates a European hub for Netherlands-based Trust International at Moerdijk, which is currently close to capacity, prompting an initiative to set up a similar operation in Asia to support demand from the company¡¯s growing global customer-base.

Under the new contract, BAX will collect consignments from various suppliers in Shenzhen and consolidate regular ocean freight and ad hoc airfreight shipments.

FCL shipments from suppliers in Dongguan province will bypass the Shenzhen hub for direct shipment to Europe, while LCL shipments will be consolidated at the Shenzhen hub for onward delivery to China, Latin America and Europe.

According to Eric Husen, director of operations at Trust International, this initiative in Asia will take the pressure off the company¡¯s European hub operation, and enable it to achieve significant delivery-time and cost advantages.
