(April 24, 2014) -- The International Trade Center at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Institute of Economic Development announces senior international business consultant Jaime Martinez was selected to speak at the New York SBDC Conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel April 26-28 in Suffern, N.Y.
The New York SBDC Conference annually provides professional development opportunities for SBDC advisers. The event will feature presentations on topics such as international trade, marketing and technology, economic preparedness and recovery for natural disasters, and foreign-direct investment. Martinez will present twice during the event, once showcasing Foreign-Direct Investment (FDI) client success story case studies and another in which he will teach SBDC advisers how to create and capture economic impact from foreign entrepreneurs.
"Of the more than 1,100 SBDCs in the U.S., there are only two that are actively participating in the federal Foreign-Direct Investment (FDI) initiative: the UTSA International Trade Center and the New York SBDCs," said Martinez. "In the three years that UTSA has been operating the Texas International Business Accelerator FDI program, the center has helped to create more than $65 million in foreign investment and 1,200 jobs in Texas. I look forward to presenting on the details of the program to the SBDC advisers of New York, whom I assisted in creating their FDI program."
Martinez joined the UTSA Institute for Economic Development in 2007 and leads the TIBA. He provides specialized business advice to foreign investors in the areas of business plans, financial projections and marketing plans. In 2013, he provided technical assistance to the New York SBDC to help them develop their own FDI program.
