Seeks to strengthen bilateral relations with Dubai and the Free Zone to establish presence in the Middle East region

A seven-member high power government delegation from the Republic of Ecuador led by HE Francisco Rivadeneira, Minister for International Trade, visited Jafza and Dubai Chamber to explore opportunities to strengthen commercial relations with the Emirate and the Free Zone.
The delegation was received by HE Hisham Abdullah Al Shirawi, Chairman, Economic Zones World and Vice-Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with Ibrahim Mohamed Al Janahi, Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer of Jafza, Adil Al Zarooni, Senior Vice President, Jafza Sales and Atiq Juma Nasib, Senior Director, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber .
Al Shirawi in his welcome address emphasised on the huge potential for developing Dubai-Ecuador bilateral economic relations, particularly in the field of commerce, logistics, tourism and financial services. He welcomed Ecuador's keen interest in establishing stronger ties with Dubai and Jafza, the two globally recognized gateway and trade and logistics hub of the wider Middle East region comprising South and West Asia, Africa and the CIS.
He stressed on Dubai's unique features such as the highly conducive business environment it offers in terms of rules and regulation, and its enabling world-class economic infrastructure including logistics abilities.
Al Shirawi extended Jafza and Dubai Chamber 's full cooperation and support in strengthening bilateral ties between Ecuador and Dubai.
Ibrahim Al Janahi, elaborating on the strategic value of the Free Zone said:
"Jafza is currently home to more than 7,200 companies, including 120 Global Fortune 500 enterprises, from across the world, who have chosen Jafza as their regional base to serve the entire region. We expect rapid growth in the size of our customer base in the coming years on the back of our winning the right to host World Expo 2020, which is to provide further push to multi-billion developmental activities underway in the region to enable economic diversification. This offers huge growth opportunities to global businesses in the Free Zone"
Al Janahi also pointed out the Jafza concept of business incubator which is designed to support small and medium enterprises from countries who are interested in exploring business opportunities in Middle East. Business Incubators are essentially collaborative initiative between Jafza and the interested country to support SMEs.
HE Francisco Rivadeneira in his speech expressed Ecuadorian Governments' thanks for the Jafza and Dubai Chamber 's support and the governments' keen desire to explore opportunities to establish strong business ties with the Free Zone and Dubai.
The Ecuadorian delegation included top officials including HE Kabalan Abisaab, Ambassador of the Republic of Ecuador in Qatar, HE Jose Xavier Orellana, Deputy Minister of Policies and International Trade Services, Eng. Antonio Ruales, Executive Director, PRO ECUADOR among others.
