Warwick Business School named in global MBA elite list

WARWICK Business School has been listed as one of the top global MBA providers in an influential list.In the Financial Times' annual global ranking of full-time MBA programmes Coventry-based WBS has risen to 25th in the world. The school, which employees 386 people, retains its place in Europe’s Top 10 and its place as fourth in the UK behind only London Business School and Oxford and Cambridge. The Financial Times surveys each business school and their MBAs from 2011 to produce the ranking, which encompasses the world's top 100 business schools. The surveys are designed to measure criteria such as career progress, international diversity, teaching and research excellence. WBS is rated sixth in the world for 'Aims Achieved', which asks graduates the extent to which they have fulfilled their goals or reasons for doing an MBA. It also rose eight places for 'Placement Success', which measure the effectiveness of a school's careers services.The 'Research Rank', which measures the volume and quality of articles in international business journals authored by the teaching staff, also saw a rise up the rankings.Dean of Warwick Business School, Professor Mark Taylor, said: "We aim to produce world-class, socially responsible, creative leaders and managers, and to provide a lifelong return on investment for them."The fact that we have consolidated our place in the global top 30 for three years now and improved again this year into the top 25 is a strong indication that we are meeting these aims."It is significant that the criteria in which we have risen show our strength across a good range of measures - from teaching, careers services, and meeting the demands of our MBA graduates."Earlier this month, WBS retained its place as second in the world and top in the UK for its Distance Learning MBA in the QS 2014 global ranking of Distance Learning and Online MBA programmes.Five other UK business schools appear in the Top 10, together with three from the USA and one from Spain. In total, 30 schools are ranked, 17 from the USA and 13 from Europe.Professor Taylor added: "With no less than six UK schools in the top ten, it is gratifying to see the performance of the Warwick Distance Learning MBA is rated the UK's best."We will continue to use the best interactive web-based resources and online study materials to bring the same quality and creative teaching to our distance learning MBAs as is enjoyed by our students here on campus."
