Maria Rodal has been hired as its China country manager. She was formerly Inditex's human resources director for Asia.
The move follows the appointment of Maria Ventin from Zara in September to lead M&S's international general merchandise operations, which include clothing and home furnishings.
It follows the hire two years ago of Jan Heere, who was general manager for Inditex Russia, as director of international. The retailer has also poached Zara's former commercial director Florence De Boosere as global director for store environment and product presentation, while Queralt Ferrer moved from Inditex's Massimo Dutti brand, to become head of design for the Autograph and Limited ranges.
As reported by Drapers last week, Marks & Spencer has also poached two long-serving members of staff from its closest rival Next.
Buying manager Paula Bonham-Carter, who has been at Next for nearly 10 years, is being brought on as head of buying for womenswear, reporting into womenswear director Frances Russell.
Laura Charles, whose tenure at Next lasted more than 15 years, will also join as head of buying for lingerie. She will report into lingerie director Jo Jenkins, who joined from Next last year.
