This year Solaris will deliver its Urbino 12 buses to Milan. The 22 million EUR contract signed with Azienda Trasporti Milanesi (ATM) covers the delivery and 5-year service of 85 standard-length buses.
In September 2013, ATM announced a tender for a frame order of 250 buses to be purchased within 4 next years.
The tender was won by Solaris which received an order for 85 Urbino 12 city buses. They will be delivered between August and December 2014. Apart from the delivery, the contract comprises also 5-year service of the buses.
It is the first order for Solaris buses in Milan. All vehicles will be equipped with Euro 6 engines. Furthermore, they will be fitted with an advanced system of passenger information and electric systems for monitoring the vehicle's performance, thanks to which information about any faults that may occur during its service will be sent directly to the depot.
"The new order for Milan is a prestigious distinction for our company. Solaris participated in the tender together with Italian companies. Despite that, ATM decided to choose an offer from Polish manufacturer. We treat it as a proof of the quality of our products and after-sales service", says Martin Gruber, Solaris executive board member for Sales, After Sales, Marketing and Quality Assurance.
Solaris low-floor city buses and trolleybuses are well-known to the citizens of Italy. Since 2004, over 400 Solaris vehicles have been delivered to Rome, Genoa, Naples, Bari and Cagliari.
