Western Railway to launch premium special train from Mumbai to Jaipur

After the successful run of the Mumbai-Delhi premium special train in the last week of December, railway officials are now looking at the Mumbai-Jaipur premium train to come up with similar results. Mumbai-Delhi premium special train made a neat 48% more than the Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani during the same period.

Officials said, the inaugural run of the Bandra Terminus-Jaipur train, which departed on Sunday, was booked 100% and it brought in earnings of INR 11,61,082.

That was a healthy 9.2% more than the INR 10,63,183 that the Mumbai-Jaipur superfast made during its run on Tuesday. While the Bandra Terminus-Jaipur premium has two 2 ac coaches, four 3 ac coaches and 12 sleeper coaches, the Mumbai-Jaipur superfast has much the same composition, except a half-coach for First AC and a sleeper coach less.

The Mumbai-Jaipur train is booked fully for its run on Wednesday as well as Friday, said Western Railway (WR) officials.

The official said that "It's a very healthy sign that at least in Mumbai, people are taking to these premium trains in a big way. The ministry, however, will have to take care of premium trains from other places since that could be a weak point."

As reported earlier by dna, the ministry has already allowed a maximum of five halts to these premium trains and also asked various zonal railways to come up with routes that will prove profitable for these trains. Sources said that among the routes the railways is looking at is the booming Mumbai-Goa sector. This route sees massive tourism-fuelled crowds despite the presence of almost 27 trains between Mumbai and Goa.
