Agility reports 15% rise in profits

2009-11-12

Agility posted a 15% year-on-year increase in net profits in the third quarter despite falling revenues.

Tarek Sultan, chairman and MD of Kuwait-based Agility, attributed the performance to the company's 'strategic controller' business model.

"Dividing Agility into three independently-managed business groups has seen more focus and clearer financial accountabilities within each group," he said.

"However, at the same time, Agility's business groups are able to work together to offer customers unique capabilities that make a real difference."

Compared to 3Q 2008, net profits jumped by 15% to KD40.5m (US$142m) and operating profits increased 5% to KD43m in the third quarter of this year.

Revenues for the third quarter of 2009 decreased 11% year-on-year to KD413.5m.

Net income for the first 9 months was KD115.5m, an increase of 7%, compared to the first nine months of 2008.
