2009-11-11

DB Schenker's new €10m (US$15m) logistics terminal in Bulgaria will start operations next spring.

Located in Bozhuriste, 20 minutes outside the capital Sofia, it will house a 3,000sq metre warehouse with capacity for some 4,000 pallets and a 3,500sq metre office complex.

A 2,000sq metre cross-docking hall which is now almost built, which will provide 30 loading bays, 20 of which will have hydraulic ramps, while two private sidings will offer a total length of approximately 220 metres.

"In our region, we are relying increasingly on rail ports - terminals where we can implement intermodal solutions that are profitable for our customers," said a spokesman. "Our Sofia site will open up new business opportunities thanks to its location and equipment."
