The Nepali government has announced various programs to make the students' enrollment campaign (SEC) and School Welcome Program (SWP) successful, The Himalayan Times reported on Saturday.
While the SEC and SWC taking place on May 16-24, a door-to-door campaign will be initiated on May 25, the Minister for Education and Sports, Pradip Nepal was quoted as saying,
He said that the campaign, which aims to bring in 12.6 percent of children, who are out of school, to the school education system, concludes on June 1.
"The program aims to bring in all the children, who are out of schools, into the schooling system and maintain the retention rate the whole year round," Nepal said at a press conference organized at the Education Ministry on Friday.
Results of similar enrollment programs launched last year were encouraging, Nepal said, adding that the government wants to see the enrollment of more and more children at schools and also maintain the retention rate.
This year, the department of education plans to increase the number of classrooms to 4318 and number of teachers to 4,800 under the secondary education support program.
The government has announced that it will provide scholarships to 50 percent of female children from Dalit and marginalized groups.
The first installment of the scholarships for the girls will be given after a month of their admission. Children from the marginalized group will also be given scholarships, according to the minister.
