European Union (EU) Regional Policy Commissioner Danuta Hubner praised Greece for its growing international competitiveness in Athens Thursday.
Hubner met with Greek Development Minister Dimitris Sioufas Thursday and expressed her satisfaction toward Athens' recent efforts in boosting its competitiveness and entrepreneurship, as well as promoting the use of the internet.
In addition, due to Sioufas holding the government's energy portfolio, the discussion also covered energy issues such as renewable, alternative sources and energy networks. The talks coincide with a period in which the Greek administration has made energy a strategic priority.
The EU Commissioner from Poland also gave a lecture at the Greek Foreign Ministry, explaining the goals and perspective of the bloc's regional policy.
The commissioner, who was also received by Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis, is scheduled to meet other senior officials from Greece.
