The 10th CPC Beijing Congress opened on Thursday morning.

A decrease of 41 deputy secretaries of the party committee has been recorded at the 10th CPC Beijing Congress from May 17 to 22, improving decision-making mechanisms in the party committee.

The China Times reports that 1462 officials had been demoted and 106 fired from their trial posts in Beijing by the end of last year.

It is an important conference at the coming of the 17th National Congress of the CPC and the 2008 Olympic Games.

Topics to be listed on the Congress agenda are in the guidance of the Theory of Deng Xiaoping and Three Represents, firmly advocating and seriously implementing the scientific development concept, making full efforts to hold the 2008 Olympic Games, as well as pushing forward a healthy and rapid growth of the capital’s economy and building a harmonious society
