Hong Kong airport April cargo up 6pc

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has experienced a six per cent year-on-year increase in April air freight shipments to 362,000 tonnes led by a transshipment increase of 18 per cent from 2013.
Traffic figures combined for the months of March and April saw cargo tonnage rise 8.2 per cent, with flight movements up 6.6 per cent and passenger figures increasing 6.2 per cent. The results were still robust despite the Easter holidays impacting traffic, said airport authority CEO Stanley Hui.
HKIA has seen growth of 5.6 per cent to 1.4 million tonnes during the first four months of 2014 and over a rolling 12-month basis, tonnage is up 3.6 per cent to 4.2 million tonnes over same period 2013, according to Shipping Gazette.
