Frankfurt Airport's cargo volume fell 1.2 per cent year on year to 171,909 tonnes in April due to a Lufthansa ground staff strike, leading to 950 flight cancellations and a three-day pilots walkout, resulting in 2,160 cancellations.
Cargo volumes were also down because of the shift of the Easter holidays from March to April in 2014, with cargo business slowing down during the holidays, noted Atlanta area Air Cargo World.
Aircraft movements decreased 4.1 per cent to 37,632 takeoffs and landings. Accumulated maximum takeoff weights also slightly contracted by 0.9 per cent to just under three million tonnes.
