Air New Zealand Cargo has moved its operations to Dubai-based dnata groundhandlers at London Heathrow, joining Qantas Freight, which announced a similar arrangement last week. Air NZ moved into Unit Three of the cargo logistics centre, one of five warehouses, according to Shipping Gazette. Said Air NZ regional cargo chief Finlay McArthur: "Being the launch customer for this state-of-the-art facility shows we are really moving with the times." With an average of 1.4 million kilogrammes throughput a month, dnata will provide two shift managers to monitor Air New Zealand's cargo 24/7, the company said. In addition to its new air freight warehouse, transport and yard for airside operations, the carrier will also have access to dnata City's pets reception centre. Said dnata development director Mohammed Akhlaq: "At dnata City, we are keen to work with Air New Zealand to improve the speed, quality and efficiency through our investment in new facilities and technologies." Qantas Freight signed with dnata City for ground handling at London Heathrow. "We are delighted that Qantas has made the commitment. Our team looks forward to providing Qantas Freight's customers a unique cargo handling experience," said Mr Akhlaq. Said Qantas Freight sales chief Mitch Wild: "We are confident that dnata City's world leading facility will deliver."
