Speaking at the Malaysian government's Department of Civil Aviation 16 March press conference in Kuala Lumpur, Yahya says: "we examined the cargo manifest, it carries no hazardous goods. They should actually be checked and screened according to the standard procedure," and he confirmed they had.Yahya also confirmed that his airline re-enacted the MH370 flight on a Boeing 777 simulator. He adds: "It confirmed it could be that 777."Speculation in the media and social media has included a possible lithium battery related fire that could have brought the aircraft down en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, its final destination. However, satellite operator Inmarsat has confirmed that the Boeing 777's satellite communication (SATCOM) system made routine automatic contact with an Inmarsat satellite for many hours after it took-off from Kuala Lumpur. Those SATCOM signals indicate that the aircraft was under controlled flight, and west of its planned flight path to Beijing, for many hours.
